Primitas Learning Partnership

Strategic Planning

The work of Primitas is shaped and guided by our Key Strategic Areas (KSAs), which together provide a comprehensive framework for trust effectiveness and continuous improvement:

  1. High-Quality, Inclusive Education;

  2. Sustainable School Improvement;

  3. Workforce Wellbeing and Development;

  4. Business and Financial Management;

  5. Leadership & Governance at All Levels;

  6. Responsible Trust Growth

Closely aligned with the Department for Education's Guidance on Commissioning High Quality Trusts, these KSAs reflect the core areas that every successful multi-academy trust must prioritise in order to succeed. Together, they ensure that strategic decision-making, performance monitoring and improvement activity remain focused on the areas that matter most.

These KSAs provide the structure for our Strategic Plan and the CEO's reports to Trustees, and they inform the agendas of key strategic leadership forums and governance meetings.

Our Strategic Planning Cycle

Primitas operates a rolling three-year Strategic Plan, providing both long-term direction and the flexibility to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.

The plan is reviewed annually by Trustees and Executive Leaders to evaluate progress, refine priorities and ensure that it remains aligned with the trust's vision, strategic objectives and the evolving educational landscape. Where appropriate, amendments are made to reflect changing circumstances, new insights and emerging needs.

At the end of each three-year cycle, the Strategic Plan is comprehensively reviewed and rewritten, creating a refreshed framework that builds upon previous successes while setting the direction for the next phase of the trust's development.

By using our strategic plan in this way, we meet the DfE’s expectations for a high quality MATS; balancing long-term strategic direction and ambition with the agility to adapt effectively to a dynamic educational landscape in order to secure sustained improvement over time.
